The fact that you can make the dumplings ahead of time and have an easy freezer meal is perfect for my busy life. Sometimes I will even make up a couple of batches of dumplings while i’m cooking so that I have them ready to go in my freezer!

How do you make Chicken and Dumplings from Scratch?

First, prepare your dumplings by adding all of the dry ingredients to a mixing bowl for the dumplings. Add in water slowly until a stiff dough forms.

Put dumpling dough into a plastic bag or roll it out so you can cut or pull of pieces to put in the pot. I like to use a plastic bag and put my dumpling dough into the freezer to get stiff while I get the broth ready.

For the chicken broth, place in a sauce pan with carrots and celery and bring to a boil.

Add dumplings, cover, and reduce to a simmer. Cook for 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, add cream of chicken soup and let cook for 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
