Plastic Tractor
Model Year: 2002
If you want a plastic, Chinese tractor, then go buy you a 4000 series tractor from John Deere. I have re-hydraulic replaced all the plastic on this tractor along with the hydraulic selector valve turn signal switch light switch hydraulic return manifold and it sitting out back with the fuse panel melted, which if I replace it myself, it will cost me 700.00. So I cant rate it any higher nor will I ever buy this brand again. I have spent more on this tractor then all the others I have owned combined which would be 5 they did have a good product but I guess it left with the flood gates of foreign tractors.
Pros: None.
Cons: Plastic and unrepairable parts.

Okay Tractor with Some Bad Features
Model Year: 2004
I bought this tractor new in 2004 and mainly use it to bushhog unused Christmas tree fields and for road maintenance. After 175 hours it began to show overheating, except that it wasn't overheating. Dealer finally figured out it was a bad temperature gauge. You have to replace the entire instrument cluster to replace the gauge, at a cost of around $550. Deere refused to help with cost, even though the tractor had about 175 hours, after seven years' use and it's garaged. $550 to replace an analogue temperature gauge? I had a similar experience with Deere a few years ago when the gear housing on my Deere rotary mower cracked. Deere refused to help. The dealer did help out of his own pocket. This has left me with some bad feelings about the company and products. I would look elsewhere for a new tractor the next time.
Pros: Easy to use.
Cons: Very expensive to repair.

JD 4710 Compact Utility w/460 Loader
Model Year: 2004
The tractor had 123 hours on it when I bought it used from the dealership where I work. I use it at the house (3.5 acres of yaupons) and at the farm (300+ acres of pasture and woods). It comes in handy at the farm where the 5083e is just too big to get to or too many limbs would scratch the cab. I also have a mx6, 72" boxblade, logsplitter, landscape rake, and grapple. The 4710 is really overkill for the home place, but I found it at a good price.
Pros: Strength for its size.
Cons: After adding cruize control to hydro trans, nothing.

John Deere 4710 Utility Tractor
Model Year: 2003
The 4710 has been a good choice for me. I use a 6 ft. mid-mount finish mower to mow 12 acres. I also use the loader extensively. I sometimes use a Grasshopper mower to mow and note that it uses almost twice as much gasoline as the JD diesel and it is about half the horsepower.
Pros: Compact size, lots of power, enough weight to do serious work, made in America.
Cons: Fuel gauge clouds up.

Great Tractor
Model Year: 0
I was originally looking for a Kubota, but drove this at the dealership and it seemed much heavier duty. I am very hard on it. I use it to dig, knock over trees, dig up stumps, clear land, dig up huge rocks and it has always performed excellent. The only problems have been a leaking hose and one of my front hub seals started leaking due to mud being packed in for a long time. I like the plastic hood and fenders. No rust. A quick wax and it looks like new.
Pros: Strong, reliable, great resale.
Cons: Expensive.

Never a Problem
Model Year: 2004
It has been a great tractor. The only change I would make is the hood should be steal not plastic. I'm on my 2nd one.
Pros: Excellent power vs. size.
Cons: Plastic hood.

Wonderful Machine
Model Year: 2003
I have a backhoe that I ordered new with the machine along with the third SCV controller. I just had to replace/rebuild my injection pump because of jet fuel I was running. I added additives but it ate out seals internally. Stupidity cost me but it is okay now. Fuel was free. It is a great machine without today's emissions issues. Thanks.
Pros: Very reliable, has never let me down
Cons: No arm rest on original seat
