What is a good concept design? ›

A good design concept visually demonstrates the product's core objective and often serves as a design guide. To achieve an outstanding product design concept, designers must understand the problem, target user, stakeholder expectation, and aesthetic of view.

The core concepts in concept design include problem identification, research and analysis, ideation, visualization, prototyping, evaluation, and iteration. These concepts form the basis of the design process and help guide designers as they develop and refine their ideas.

Concept Design is about forming, modeling, and shaping a new idea, approach, or abstraction of an implementation. Examples of concepts in this context are eHealth, customer self-service, 360 client view, robotics, and 3D printing. More examples can be found in the concept library.

For example, "The intent of this design is to take advantage of the home's classic architecture, bring in additional natural light, and utilize a combination of vintage and contemporary furnishings and accessories to achieve a comfortable-but-eye-catching ambiance."

Math is a good example of a concept because equations in algebra refer to ideas of 'x', which is a concept for a certain number that one must determine. Other concepts can exist in art, literature, and many other areas of human thought.

A design concept is the big picture idea for the project. It shows the overall design intent and provides direction for everyone on the project team from the early schematic design phase all the way through construction. Having a unified and cohesive design concept makes all future decisions easier, also.

Design thinking encourages people to be creative and to look at problems from a fresh perspective. As the saying goes, you can't have something new in life without doing something different. The approach can help people solve some of society's biggest challenges.

The goal of the design thinking process is to come up with solutions, products, or services that are desirable for the user, economically viable from a business perspective, and technologically feasible.

What is conceptual design format? ›

Concept design constitutes the foundational phase of the creative product design process, encompassing initial stages where designers lay the groundwork for the entire project (production-ready design). An idea serves as inspiration, while the design process functions as a tool.

Four groups of elements are distinguished: a) Conceptual Elements [Point, Line, Plane, Volume] b) Visual Elements [Shape, Size, Color, Texture] c) Relational Elements [Direction, Position, Space, Gravity] c) Practical Elements[Representation, Meaning, Function]

A concept is good when it expresses clear meaning and helps to seize the object. Only good concepts may establish boundaries that separate the object that we want explained from other objects that may look similar but are not the same.

High concept is a type of artistic work that can be easily pitched with a succinctly stated premise. It can be contrasted with low concept, which is more concerned with character development and other subtleties that are not as easily summarized.
